Altyntobe is the site of an ancient medieval settlement. It is located 7 kilometres northwest of Otrar. The settlement is represented by a rectangular hill extending from north to south.
Zhuyantobe
Zhuyantobe is the site of a medieval settlement. The settlement consisted of two parts surrounded by a rabat, or outer settlement area. The central part had a rectangular shape. The remains of gates have been preserved on the northern and southern sides of the settlement.
In 1951, archaeological research was carried out here by the South Kazakhstan Archaeological Expedition. In 1996–1997, the research was continued by an expedition of the Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.
The artefacts displayed in our exhibition were discovered at these ancient settlements. They include saptyayaks, jugs, bucket-shaped vessels, torsyks, ceramic torsyks, beads, a bronze mirror, and arrowheads.
The torsyks displayed under number 4 are among these artefacts.
