The museum of literature of Mirtemir is the brench of the Turkestan regional local history museum. The museum was organized by an asset of state farm of XXІІІ a congress of the CPSU with assistance of the Ministries of Culture Kaz SSR and SSR Uzb to the 80 anniversary of the poet Mirtemir Tursunov. Ceremonial opening of the museum in August, 1990.
The singer of friendship of the people, the National Poet of Uzbekistan Mirtemir Tursunov was born in 1910 in the village Old Ikan that is at the bottom of ancient Turkestan. Mirtemir's childhood passed in the native village. Later he lived and worked in Uzbekistan, and the poet never forgot the Homeland.
In Mirtemir’s work friendship subject between the people. In his works reflect Russian, Kazakh, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Karakalpak, Turkmen peoples’ feeling and dream – all thought about friendship and unities describes in the works.
Mirtemir's poetry is familiar to many fans of poetry the fact that he is the author of lyrical verses, sings friendship, honesty, morality and love.
The spiritual wealth of the Kazakh people, the shown courage, are reflected in Mirtemir's verses. It is possible to note such poems by Mirtemir as "My brother, the Kazakh", "To Mukhtar's funeral", "Melancholy for snow", Karkara, "A miner's lamp", "Winter in Almaty", "Old men", "The girl with koumiss", "Kymys", etc.
Mirtemir was the best translator of the era. Its translations on Uzbek such works as Ancient Greek eposes – "Odyssey", "Illiad" by Homer, all works by A.S. Pushkin, M.Yu. Lermontov, N.A. Nekrasov, I.A. Krylov, V.V. Mayakovsky's poem. T. Shevchenko, Berdaka, N. Hikmet, classics of Europe Cervantes (Don Quixote), M. Twain.
Mirtemir translated the best samples of the Kazakh poetry and prose into Uzbek. Mirtemir is a one of the propagandist and the propagandist of the Kazakh literature to the Uzbek people. "The words of edification" and other poems of Abay, Zhambul, A. Tazhibayev, S. Mavlenov, S. Mukanov and many other works which were translated by Mirtemir.
The winner of many State awards and awards of the USSR and the Uzbek SSR of Mirtemir in 1971 was awarded a rank of the National Poet of Uzbekistan.
Mirtemir is the close friend, the loving brother and the real interlocutor. It in the compositions not only deeply describes life of the Kazakh people, but also to translate for the Uzbek fan of poetry of true professionals of a word of Kazakh.
The area of the museum is 1200,0 sq.m. muzeum is occupied by 132,0 sq.m. muzeum is occupied by several rooms – "The childhood and the adolescence, Mirtemir career", "Mirtemir – the victim of political repressions", "Years of creative growth", "My eyelashes" (it is devoted to pupils of the poet from the Turkestan region).
